This beautiful coffee from Banko Gotiti boasts a classic Ethiopian Gedeb flavor profile: a soft, floral bouquet upfront balanced by a crisp candy-like peach acidity, and a delightful jasmine & black tea finish.
Hand-brews tend to emphasize its floral qualities and light body. Batch brew or espresso highlight its brighter and deeper characteristics. Either way, this coffee is very special and we are thrilled to finally have fresh crop Ethiopian coffee again.
WHY IS THIS COFFEE PRICED HIGHER?
Earlier this year, we had the privilege of visiting the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (YCFCU) in Dilla, Ethiopia. We were struck not only by the quality of their coffee but also by their commitment to the community. YCFCU chose to use the Fair Trade premiums they earned to build a school for the local children. The Yirgacheffe Union Academy provides education and a nurturing environment for over 350 students but has only seven computers. YCFCU President Erkiyihun Hirbe called us to action when he said to our group, “If you can help us build a computer lab, we’d be grateful."
We saw the essential work of YCFCU in the joyful expressions of the schoolchildren, and we would love your help in building them a digital learning center!
